What happens when copying with another brand’s copier while using the Emotional Manager for NinjaTrader 8?

If you decide to use a copier from another brand together with the Emotional Manager for NinjaTrader 8, it is important to know that there will be no direct communication between the other brand's copier and the emotional manager, which may create certain unwanted scenarios.

If a slave account is locked and the master account places a trade, the trade is not copied to the slave account. This is thanks to the efficient communication between the Emotional Manager and our copier, which prevents trades from being executed in locked accounts, respecting the lock and protecting your accounts.

With copiers from OTHER brands:

In this case, if the slave account is locked and the master account executes a trade, the trade will be copied to the slave account even though it is locked. This happens because there is no communication between the Emotional Manager and other brands' copiers. However, because the account really is locked, the Emotional Manager will close the trade immediately upon detecting it. This opening and closing process may generate a small unwanted loss.

🔄 What you might be thinking: “If I apply the Emotional Manager to all my accounts, then the master account would be locked at the same time as the slave accounts and this problem would not affect me.”

It is natural to think that, by applying the Emotional Manager for NinjaTrader 8 to all accounts, both the master account and the slave accounts, they would all be locked simultaneously. However, in practice this does not always happen.

For example, when placing a trade, there may be slight differences in entry points between accounts. This means that the PnL (profits or losses) will be slightly different from one account to another as the trade progresses. As a result, even though all accounts are under the same plan, one account may reach its daily loss limit before the others. If a slave account is locked upon reaching that limit before the master account, when the master account exits because of the same daily loss limit, its exit will be copied to the slave account, which is already locked. The Emotional Manager will automatically close that trade in the slave account, generating an unnecessary additional trade.

This is just one example, but similar situations may arise with other parameters.

What happens if you decide to keep using another copier?

If, after understanding these scenarios, you decide that you are willing to accept these possible differences, you can continue using other copiers with the Emotional Manager for NinjaTrader 8 without problems.

However, if you prefer to avoid these scenarios and enjoy complete, smooth integration between the Emotional Manager and the copier, we recommend our NinjaTrader 8 to NinjaTrader 8 copier. This copier not only prevents these problems, but also offers exclusive features such as copying between different funding firms, without monthly costs, without the need for VPS servers, and all at a very affordable initial cost.
